I'm Not Scared is a novel written by Niccolo Ammaniti, translated from Italian (Io non ho paura). A film version directed by Gabriele Salvatores was released in 2003. The novel centres on 9-year-old Michele Amitrano, who lives in the southern Italian town of Acqua Traverse during the the 1970s, and explores the themes of fear, morality, cruelty and coming of age.
